The health clinic has no running water. The water we do have is kept in this big canister and is collected from the neighboring school about a soccer field distance away. We use this water to wash our hands which doesn't happen that frequently here, and no one wears gloves really. So different.

This is one of the nurses, Lucy, dispensing medication to the patients through the window, as there is hardly any room in the clinic for them to line up.

  1. JAKE!!! Finally checking in on your blog - for some reason I don't get updates, I guess I'm not on "The List". I'm in awe of what you're experiencing there, and I hugely admire your courage. Ce n'est pas Paris, non? I am sure they love you there and it will be hard for you to go (maybe not too hard). But remember that you're not missing anything here. Well, except the Olympics. Lots of excitement in Vancouver over what is now being dubbedd the "Spring Olympics" (weather has been incredible, but lack of snow a small issue). I'm sure you heard I won the gold in the jazzercize ice dancing competition? It was my gold-spangly outfit more than anything, I think. Next up is aerial jumping, and of course I won't be wearing underwear. (No one else reads the comments, right?) I woke up at 3:30 AM to find intruders in my house the other night. They broke through the window. A few swift karate chops (translation: girl screams) and they ran for the hills. Fortunately I caught them before they got anything. I'm now sleeping with a hammer beside my bed (the only weapon I could find), and may start wearing a tool belt (not for safety but for carpenter role-play thing). Alors, ca c'est tout, mon ami. Tu me manques. Je t'embrasse. J'ai vraiment hate de te voir en mai. xxx Dan
